Sustainability at Wildwood Eco Retreat

Sustainability at Wildwood was never an afterthought. When we purchased the 54-acre property — previously a tree plantation filled with approximately 40 acres of tree stumps — our vision was not to continue using the land, but to help regenerate it.

Set in Quindalup within Western Australia’s Margaret River region, Wildwood was created as a low-impact, off-grid retreat where guests can reconnect with nature while living more lightly on the earth.

Wildwood operates entirely off-grid using solar power, rainwater collection and naturally filtered aquifer water systems. Rather than removing and burning the tree stumps, regenerative mulching methods were used to return organic material back into the earth to support soil regeneration and reduce environmental impact.

No bushland was cleared during development. Eco tents were carefully positioned amongst existing trees to preserve natural shade, privacy and wildlife movement, while mulch pathways created from fallen trees collected on the property encourage guests to slow down and experience Wildwood on foot.

Home to hundreds of kangaroos, threatened black cockatoo species, boobook owls and native birdlife, Wildwood continues to evolve its regenerative vision through biodiversity planting, reclaimed materials and nature-led guest experiences.
